Not too many changes here this week. With the news that Florida’s starting QB will be out for the season, I was tempted to drop them from the rankings, but there’s actually a chance that their offense is better off this way. ASU got hammered by Stanford, and even though I moved them down, it might be more of a sign that Stanford is really good. And although Michigan State lost to Notre Dame, I move them into the Top 25. They lost a really close game against a good team on the road after being dominant for the first 3 weeks. They’re a solid squad with a tough schedule that could make a splash in the coming weeks.
Once again a lot of changes this week, mostly relating to teams losing and falling off the ranks. One of the biggest adjustments I made was Ohio State and Baylor, who have both beat Buffalo with vastly different stat lines. Ohio Stat also might have to play a few games with quarterback Braxton Miller nursing an injury.
But the real question is, am I allowed to rank Eastern Washington in the top 25 even though they’re a FCS team? I’m really tempted to this week, it’s hard finding a 25th team that really deserves it, and I hate giving it to a team that just lost. Texas got dismantled by BYU, the Clowney lead South Carolina’s SEC defense isn’t dominant enough, Arizona State beat up on a Big Sky opponent but has only played one game, Bowling Green’s schedule is so soft it wouldn’t matter if they went undefeated all season, and TCU lost to LSU at home and was somewhat underwhelming against the FCS this week. So whom does that leave me with? Texas Tech, my Big-12 sleeper-pick. Tech has an amazingly difficult schedule this year, and if they come close to running the table, starting with TCU this Thursday, they have a clear path to a birth in one of this year’s top bowls.

I tend to move teams around a lot the first two or three weeks of the season. Was Alabama’s poor offensive line play a fluke? Will Oregon’s offense be more explosive without Chip Kelly as head coach? Until we see more games I need to assume that those are true statements to some extent.
