Wolf (2013)
Tyler, The Creator
Album Rating: 2/5 stars
Album Length: Too Long
Tyler, The Creator’s third album Wolf is in no way more mainstream or less Tyler sounding than his previous works, but if I had to compare it to something it would unfortunately be to Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon II. The album is slow and somewhat timid. Every track seems to blend together, and is sound like it’s the same thing over and over again. No tracks really stand out musically or are as lyrically engaging as anything off of Goblin or Bastard. The back half of the album is better than the opening, but it still lacks a general purpose or any sort of hook. Wolf sounds lazy, has a little potential to grow on me, but is almost a struggle to get through, especially compared to Tyler’s other works.
